Privacy Policy

Marea ("the App") is published by Bulpara Inc ("we", "us", "our"). This policy describes how the App handles your information. The short version: your health data is stored only on your iPhone, and we never collect it.
1. Your Health & Symptom Data
- Your data never leaves your device. Everything you log — symptoms, hot flashes, cycles, periods, mood, sleep, HRT and medication — is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple’s SwiftData framework.
- The App does not upload, transmit, stream, or store your health data on our servers. We do not operate servers that hold your data.
- You do not create an account. There is no sign-up, login, email, or profile.
- Your data is removed when you delete the corresponding entry inside the App, or when you delete the App from your device.
2. Data We Store Locally
- Symptom & cycle logs: The symptoms, intensities, periods, flow, notes, HRT and medication doses, and dates you enter. Stored locally via SwiftData.
- Preferences: Reminder settings, theme, default views, and app-lock preference.
- Purchase status: Subscription state is managed by Apple’s StoreKit and cached locally for feature gating.
3. Apple Health (Optional)
- Apple Health sync is off by default and entirely opt-in. If you turn it on in Settings, Marea writes the menstrual flow and symptom data you log into Apple Health on your device.
- Apple Health data stays on your device and in your private iCloud Health store, governed by Apple. It is never sent to us.
- You can turn the sync off at any time in the App’s Settings, and revoke Marea’s Health permissions in the iOS Health app or Settings.
4. Permissions We Request
- Face ID / Touch ID (optional): Only if you enable the app lock, to unlock the App. We never receive your biometric data — authentication is handled entirely by iOS.
- Notifications (optional): Used only to send the logging reminders you schedule. You can disable them in iOS Settings.
- Apple Health (optional): Only if you enable Health sync, and only to read and write the menstrual and symptom data described above.
The App does not request your location, contacts, microphone, camera, or photo library.
5. Data Storage and Security
- All logs, history, and preferences are stored locally on your device and protected by your device passcode and iOS data protection.
- No health data, identifiers, or device-identifiable content is transmitted to or stored on our servers. We have no servers that hold user health data.
- Purchase verification uses Apple’s secure StoreKit framework.
- The App’s core tracking, trends, calendar, and report features work completely offline.
6. Third-Party Services
Marea contains no advertising, no analytics SDKs, and no third-party trackers. The only third party involved is:
- Apple App Store / StoreKit: Manages subscriptions and purchases. Governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your health data with anyone, because we never receive it — it stays on your device. There is no data broker, advertiser, or analytics provider in the loop.
8. Your Rights
Because your data lives only on your device, you are always in control. You can:
- Edit or delete any individual entry inside the App
- Delete the App to remove all local logs, history, and preferences
- Turn off Apple Health sync and revoke Health permissions at any time
- Disable Notifications and app lock from iOS Settings or the App at any time

9. Children's Privacy
The App is rated 4+ and is intended for adults. It does not collect personal data from anyone, including children — this is enforced by design, since no data leaves the device.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
